From Controller to Cockpit: The Adam Taylor Gaming Story

Every racer starts somewhere. For me, it wasn’t about having the most expensive gear from day one; it was about the thrill of the chase and the community we’ve built together. We recently hit 10,000 subscribers, and looking back at the rig’s evolution, it’s been one hell of a ride.

The Evolution of the Rig

The channel started with a simple goal: share the fun of gaming. But as the "sim racing bug" bit harder, the gear followed. We went from standard controllers to a full-blown Next Level Racing setup. Today, the heart of the channel is built on precision:

The Wheel: The Logitech G Pro (Direct Drive is a total game-changer for feeling the limit of grip).

The Feedback: A MOZA shifter and the HF8 Haptic Pad to feel every kerb and gear shift.

The Visuals: This is where the real debate happens—VR vs. Screen.

The VR Showdown: PSVR2 vs. Meta Quest 3

If you catch me on a Gran Turismo Tuesday, I’m usually strapped into the PSVR2. If I’m diving into a beginner’s guide or checking out new tech, the Meta Quest 3 comes out.

People always ask which is better, and the truth is: it depends on what you value.

The PSVR2 Experience: I’m a huge fan of the PS5 ecosystem. It just works. There’s no troubleshooting drivers or tweaking bitrates; you plug it in, and you’re at the starting grid of Trial Mountain. It’s about immersion without the headache.

The Quest 3 Edge: On the flip side, the Quest 3 is technically superior. The clarity of the lenses and the sheer feature set are incredible. But sometimes, you just want to race without the setup friction.

Why I Do It

I’ve said it before: I’m not a pro driver. You won’t see me setting world-record qualifying laps every time I log on. My content is about the experience. It’s about the fun, the relatable mistakes, and the "immersion" that VR brings—even if it doesn't always make me faster!

What’s Next?

We’re currently grinding from that iRacing D License to a C License, and the schedule is packed:

Motor Monday (Sim Racing)

Warfare Wednesday (Battlefield & Arma - no VR, just pure controller focus!)

FPS Friday (Bodycam & Ready or Not)

Thanks for being part of the journey. Whether we’re racing in Christchurch or competing globally, I’m glad you’re in the passenger seat.
